Graduation Ceremony at the Hofkerk
On 10th of November last a graduation ceremony took place for nine students who have completed their study at the School Of Ladder. Those graduates form part of the second generation that have completed the full training at the School Of Leaders, the G12 Vision based teaching institution of our FMC church.
It was just past three on this Saturday afternoon when the formal ceremony started at the Hofkerk in Delft. There were about seventy people who followed the brief presentations that the nine students were about to hold.
The first group that kicked off with their presentation were Kasih Deru, Han Hok Siem and Donny Walelangi. Their theme was “Moving in the Vision”. Before they went ahead with it, pastor Viktor, our senior pastor and also one of the four examiners, explained that for time reasons the talk would be held in Indonesian only. “The next time it will be done in Dutch or English”, ensured our pastor Viktor in a good cheer.
After half an hour the second group of three, consisting of student Lili, William Pangemanan and Kornel Hamami, followed suit with their own presentation. The theme was “The Growing Church”. William led the presentation and addressed the problem of the new won souls that stayed away from the church after awhile. Pictures shown by two beamers on the screen helped to make his talk even more vividly. William believes that the problem is mainly due to a lack of follow-up care and stewardship for the newcomers in the church.
The last group with Lena Meryta, Lin Santosa and Glen Janis continued their presentation on the theme “Unlimited Harvest”. Their thesis deals with the question why out of the present 127 students from the School Of Leaders, just only 20% have actually started to open a cell group of their own. Since opening a new cell group is one of the main goals for students that attend the School Of Leaders.
The board of examiners that was further made up by pastor Vivie Faraknimella, pastor Henk Karelse and Dr. Alamsya Ganardi paid their full attention to the students´ presentation. They oftenly interrupted the candidates with critical questions and comments. So did pastor Viktor challenge the legitimacy of the inquiry conducted by Group Three, since the results of their inquiry were just based on less than 50% of the responses. On this, however, Lena must owe him an answer.
An interesting thing that Glen mentioned was the so-called SPiT. It is an entirely new concept made up by his team. It deals with a method that combines discipleship with an internship. “With the little time the cell leader and members have, do you believe that this plan is feasible?” asked the examiner Vivie skeptically.
It was past five when the board of examiners retreated themselves for their final ordeal. Meanwhile, the audience enjoyed a short break and the candidates were waiting the results anxiously. The climax of the day was the moment when pastor Viktor announced the final marks: 8.9 for Group One, 8.8 for Group Two and finally 9.1 for the last group. Under loud applauses and many congratulations, the students received their diploma.
The ceremony was closed with a short sharing by pastor Henk Karelse. His message was based on John 20:21 from the Scriptures that was especially addressed to the nine graduates. Since they are the sent ones, they represent the Lord Jesus Himself and they are His ambassadors. By this sharing pastor Henk tried to make clear to them what it means to be a sent one, and also to encourage them in their calling.
